South Korea’s top selling soju brand will hit the shelves of duty free outlets at Hong Kong International Airport.

Hite Jinro said on Monday it would start supplying its Soju labels - its best-selling Pure Chamisul, fruit blends Jinro Grapefruit and Jinro Green Grape, and premium Ilpoom JINRO - to five duty-free shops at the Hong Kong International Airport in Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong.

The Korean liquor maker set the price of Pure Chamisul, Jinro Grapefruit and Jinro Green Grape at 15 Hong Kong dollars (HKD) ($1.92), and Ilpoom JINRO at HKD 170.

The Chek Lap Kok International Airport is one of the busiest gateways in Southeast Asia and has eight liquor and tobacco shops. China Duty Free Group, who won a license to open a duty free shop at the airport in November 2017, has been preparing for its re-opening in May 2018.

Hite Jinro has turned to overseas markets by targeting duty-free shops in the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Myanmar and Singapore.

Thanks to robust sales of its Soju products, the company’s sales in the Southeast Asian market almost quadrupled over the past five years.

Shares of Hite Jinro Monday ended 6.53 percent down at 22,900 won from the previous session.
