Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Sunday that over 20 million smartphones in South Korea are equipped with its Galaxy AI technology.
The company has been steadily rolling out AI-powered devices, starting with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series in January this year, followed by the introduction of its first foldable phones with AI integration—the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6—in July.
Samsung Electronics is putting out efforts to democratize mobile AI by introducing Galaxy AI to existing devices. The software update has added more than ten new AI features to key models such as the Galaxy S23, S22, Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 4, Z Fold 4 smartphones, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 and S8 series tablets.
Looking ahead, Samsung plans to expand both its AI-enabled devices and the languages supported by its Galaxy ecosystem.
Currently, Galaxy AI supports 16 languages, including Korean, with plans to increase that number to 20 by the end of this year.
Earlier, Roh Tae-moon, president and head of Samsung Electronics‘ mobile experience (MX) division, stated that Samsung will aim to incorporate Galaxy AI into about 200 million Galaxy mobile devices worldwide by the end of the year.
