Coupang to host Tottenham Hotspur-Bayern Munich match

Coupang announced that it will host a match between Son Heung-min’s Tottenham Hotspur and Kim Min-jae’s Bayern Munich in Seoul, South Korea this summer. This exciting event is part of the 2024 Coupang Play Series, as revealed by Coupang’s online video service, Coupang Play, on Monday.

The highly anticipated match will take place on August 3rd, 2024, at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Coupang Wow membership subscribers will have the exclusive opportunity to enter the stadium or watch it live via the streaming service.

Tottenham Hotspur, one of the English Premier League (EPL)’s most prestigious soccer clubs, will feature Son Heung-min, who has returned to Korea as the team captain. Tottenham was also in the lineup for the 2022 Coupang Play Series, but the 2024 event is particularly significant as it marks Son’s return as captain.

Coupang Play unveiled Bayern Munich as the first invitee for the 2024 Coupang Play Series in March 2024, the first time that Bayern Munich, founded in 1900, will visit Korea. The team features Kim Min-jae, a key center back player for the South Korean national team. This match will be the first time Son and Kim face each other in their club uniforms, creating a unique spectacle for fans.

Adding to the excitement, Bayern Munich’s roster includes former Tottenham stars Harry Kane and Eric Dier. Kane, who set the EPL record for the most combined goals with Son (47 goals), transferred to Bayern Munich before the 2023-2024 season. Dier also made the switch to Bayern during the same period.

Tottenham and Bayern Munich are set to clash again in a friendly match on August 11th, 2024, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, offering fans two opportunities to witness these top teams compete during the preseason.
