LX Pantos Co., a South Korean logistics company, plans to expand its logistics operations in Central Asia, with a focus on Kazakhstan.

According to the company on Thursday, its CEO Lee Yong-ho recently met with Kazakhstan Minister of Transportation Marat Karabayev in the Central Asian country’s capital of Astana to discuss measures for bilateral cooperation in the logistics sector.

The discussions primarily centered on enhancing cooperation on container freight transport along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), which connects Europe and Central Asia.

The TITR is the only transcontinental rail route that does not pass through Russian territory, as opposed to other major Asia-Europe transportation routes such as the Trans-Siberian Railway (TSR) and the Trans-China Railway (TCR).

To implement the cooperation, LX Pantos signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with PTC Group, the Central Asian country‘s leading logistics company.

Under the agreement, the two companies will establish a strategic partnership to expand freight transport between Europe and Asia using the TITR, collaborate on the utilization of logistics assets, and jointly develop export cargo from Kazakhstan.

PTC Group, founded in 2002, is a prominent integrated transport service and logistics investment group in the country, owning and operating the largest railway fleet and logistics infrastructure in the Central Asia region.
