SK chemicals Co. has partnered with a global packaging company to introduce a new cosmetic container made from 70 percent recycled materials.
SK chemicals announced on Thursday that it showcased the new container at the LUXE Pack Monaco 2024 exhibition held earlier this month in Monaco.
This latest innovation builds on last year’s achievement, when the company developed a container with 50 percent recycled content. This year, the company partnered with Toly and successfully raised the recycled material ratio to 70 percent.
The container features SK chemicals’ proprietary material, ECOTRIA Claro, which is made from recycled plastics.
What sets this material apart is its ability to be recycled again after use, contributing to a closed-loop recycling system for plastics.
According to SK chemicals, ECOTRIA Claro does not rely on traditional mechanical recycling methods that simply break down plastic into smaller pieces for reuse.
Instead, it employs an advanced chemical recycling process, known as depolymerization, which breaks down plastics at the molecular level, allowing the material to be reused as raw feedstock.
