Samsung Electronics’ brand value ranked 5th in global list

The brand value of South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. has surpassed $100 billion in 2024, retaining its position as the world’s 5th-most valuable brand.

According to the company on Thursday, its brand value gained 10 percent to $100.8 billion in 2024 from a year ago.

The figure is based on the 2024 Best Global Brands report published by brand consulting firm Interbrand.

Samsung Electronics has retained its 5th place ranking globally for five consecutive years, and it is the only Asian company in the top five.

The growth in Samsung Electronics’ brand value is attributed to its leadership in the mobile artificial intelligence (AI) market, the expansion of AI-integrated products, and its competitiveness in AI technology in the semiconductor sector as the overall AI industry grew.

Samsung Electronics’ brand value has increased by 62 percent over four years since it first reached the 5th spot in 2020.

Korean auto giant Hyundai Motor Co., in the meantime, also saw its brand value reach $23 billion, ranking 30th globally.

Compared to 2019, before Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chairman Euisun Chung took office, the company’s brand value grew 63 percent from $14.1 billion to $23 billion. Its ranking climbed six spots from 36th to 30th over the same period.

Hyundai Motor first entered the top 100 brands in 2005 and has consistently increased its brand value for 14 consecutive years since 2011.

“Hyundai Motor has continued to strengthen its global brand power by offering diverse lifestyles to customers through its IONIQ and high-performance N brands,” said an official from Interbrand.

“Going forward, Hyundai Motor is expected to expand its customer engagement through innovative mobility solutions and foster a unique culture shared with its fan base.”

Separately, Hyundai Motor and its smaller sibling Kia Corp. were named among the 15 Fastest Risers by Interbrand.

LG Electronics Inc. also re-entered the top 100, alongside U.S. Uber Technologies Inc. as one of the Re-entrants brands.
