South Korean girl group 2NE1 will hold its first full-group concert in 10 years as it celebrates its 15th anniversary.
YG Entertainment Inc. announced on Thursday that 2NE1 will headline a solo concert, titled “Welcome Back in Seoul,” at Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, starting Friday.
The group’s four members - Bom, CL, Dara, and Minzy - who disbanded in 2016 to pursue solo careers, are reuniting for this special event.
The members shared their excitement ahead of the concert. “We have had occasional reunions, such as performing at Coachella, but we wanted to plan something special since it is our 15th anniversary,” CL said, adding that she is “thrilled” about the concert. Dara said they wanted to focus on “the essence of what 2NE1 originally did” instead of preparing something new. Bom called the event a dream come true, while Minzy expressed her amazement at the long-anticipated reunion.
CL also hinted that the concert will highlight 2NE1’s classic and original sound.
