SEOUL -- SK C&C, the provider of system integration, consulting and information technology outsourcing services, has released a cloud disaster recovery service that would help clients switch to backup networks in the event of fires and natural disasters.
In the current connected world which virtually every online service is based on cloud computing, a system malfunction could bring disastrous results including the shut-down of service or the unwanted deletion of data. To prevent such accidents, firms operate expensive independent backup cloud systems.
SK C&C said in a statement on Thursday that Cloud Z Disaster Recovery (DR)", a cloud backup and recovery service, will ensure continuous cloud services as it stores cloud data in a data center as a recovery system. "Our strong point is that the Cloud Z DR service can accommodate any clouds and systems currently used by our clients," SK C&C's cloud business head Shin Hyun-seok was quoted as saying.
The global cloud recovery market is rapidly growing with an annual average growth rate of 24.2 percent, thanks to the increasing number of cloud-based services and systems. It is estimated to reach $22.2 billion by 2023, according to global market research firm Allied Market Research. Currently, the top players in the market are American tech companies Amazon and Hewlett-Packard.
