현대차그룹이 미래 모빌리티 기술에 2025년까지 총 41조원을 투자한다. 또 2025년까지 신차의 절반 수준인 23종의 전기차를 출시하기로 했다.
South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group pledged an investment of 41 trillion won ($34.5 billion) in future mobility technologies over the next five years and vowed to devote half of its new lineup to electric versions by 2025.
현대차그룹은 우선 미래 모빌리티 기술과 전략 투자에 2025년까지 41조원을 투입할 예정이다. 2022년까지 로봇•인공지능(AI), 전동차, 스마트카, 미래 에너지, 스타트업 등 신사업에 23조원 투자 계획을 밝힌 바 있는데, 2025년으로 늘려서 장기적인 투자 로드맵을 내놨다.
Korea’s largest auto conglomerate revealed Tuesday its mid-term plan to lead the country’s new mobility technology development with a bold investment of near $35 billion in the area. The plan expanded on its earlier announcement to invest 23 trillion won until 2022 in new businesses such as robotics, artificial intelligence, electric cars, smart cars and future energy.
현대차그룹은 2021년부터 고속도로 자율주행이 가능한 레벨3 차량을 출시하고, 2024년에는 시내 도로주행까지 할 수 있는 레벨4 차량을 운송사업자부터 단계적으로 공급할 예정이다.
Under its scheme, the automaker aims to roll out Level 3 self-driving cars capable of driving on highways from 2021, and deploy Level 4 cars on city streets from 2024.
차량 데이터 오픈 플랫폼의 개발자 포털인 '현대 디벨로퍼스(Hyundai Developers)' 출범도 공식화했다. 수백만 대의 커넥티드카와 정비망을 통해 수집된 차량 제원, 상태, 운행 등 데이터를 외부에 개방한다는 뜻이다. 이에 따라 스타트업들이 미래 모빌리티 시대 신상품과 서비스를 개발할 수 있게 된다.
The group officially announced the launch of its auto data platform called Hyundai Developers, opening up the data gathered from millions of connected cars and repair center networks to the developer community. This improved access to big data is expected to help startups develop new mobility offerings and services, which would be a win-win to both Hyundai and startups.
현대차그룹은 이날 우진산전, 자일대우상용차, 에디슨모터스와 함께 버스용 수소연료전지시스템 공급 협력 업무협약(MOU)을 맺었다. 이로써 국내 중소•중견 버스 제작사들이 자체적으로 수소전기버스를 개발할 수 있는 길이 열렸다.
Separately, Hyundai Motor Group signed a memorandum of understanding with Woojin Industrial Systems, Zyle Daewoo Commercial Vehicle and Edison Motors to provide fuel-cell power generation solutions for buses, opening the way for smaller rivals to create their own hydrogen buses.
문재인 대통령이 15일 미래차산업 국가비전 선포식에 참석해 "세계에서 가장 먼저 자율주행을 상용화하겠다"며 "목표 시기는 2030년에서 2027년으로 3년 앞당겨 실현할 계획"이라고 밝혔다. 문 대통령은 "우리 목표는 2030년까지 미래차 경쟁력 1등 국가가 되는 것"이라고 말했다.
The auto giant’s announcement comes at a time when the government is making a bigger push to take leadership in the future mobility market. In show of support to the country’s top automaker, Korean President Moon Jae-in in a ceremony declaring the national vision for the future auto industry on Tuesday, said the country will aim to become the first in the world commercialize autonomous driving by 2027, moving up the planned schedule by three years. He also shared ambitions to make Korea the world’s No. 1 future car provider by 2030.
