LG Electronics Inc. unveiled its customized 5G network solution, e-Um 5G, marking a significant step in its business expansion.
The company demonstrated the technology at the three-day Korea Radiocommunication Show that kicked off on Wednesday at COEX in Samseong-dong, southern Seoul.
The e-Um 5G is a tailored 5G network designed for specific environments such as smart factories and smart logistics.
Utilizing dedicated frequencies, it offers high-speed data transmission with enhanced stability and security.
At the exhibition, LG Electronics showcased an autonomous robot equipped with a multi-jointed robotic arm connected to the e-Um 5G network, performing tasks such as component transport and product assembly.
The company also introduced a digital twin system that integrates real and virtual worlds through data, allowing visitors to experience remote collaboration and access CCTV data via the e-Um 5G network in a virtual space.
Demonstrations also include programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and autonomous service robots operating seamlessly over the e-Um 5G network.
According to market research firm MarketsandMarkets, the global e-Um 5G market is projected to grow at an annual average rate of 42 percent from about $2 billion last year to about $11.8 billion in 2028.
