18일 오전 7시 58분 일본 오사카부(大阪府)에서 규모 5.9로 추정되는 지진이 발생했다고 일본 기상청이 밝혔다. 이로 인해 건물의 유리가 파손되고, 집안의 가구가 넘어지는 등의 피해가 발생했다. 또한 지진으로 멈춰 선 열차에서는 승객들이 급히 대피하기도 했다.
아직까지 심각한 인명 피해 사례는 접수되지 않았으나, 곳곳에서 인명과 재산 신고가 잇따르고 있다.
