‘memory’ series is attempted to express another memory’s sense of density in the artistic way through realistic sensibilities, which are given by an existing reality, using raw stones retained the immortal energy. Three dimensional objects are revived as an artwork implying dual meanings both of the feature of realism and abstraction, crossing boundaries between the sculpture and figurative painting from second dimensional canvas through artist’s labors to three dimensional recreations.
‘memory’연작은 불변의 에너지를 지닌 원석을 이용하여 실제가 주는 사실적인 감성과 이를 통한 또 다른 기억의 질량감을 회화적으로 나타내려는 작업을 시도한다. 3차원의 오브제는 작가의 노동력을 통한 2차원적 평면에서 다시 3차원적 재현으로 조각과 평면회화의 경계를 넘나들고, 구상과 추상의 성격을 모두 지닌 중의적 작품으로 재탄생 된다.

From referring the object of the nature itself into the artworks, it is expressed the image of record on compatibility and relationship at the same time the way of the expression of a sculptural painting. A unique way of expression of artworks can also be interpreted as different sensibilities of image from a viewpoint of viewers unlike an original intention of artist.
자연 그대로의 오브제를 이용하여 공존과 관계에 대한 기록 이미지이자 조각적 회화의 표현방식이다. 작품의 독특한 표현은 작가의 감정과는 또 다른, 감상자의 시선에서 다른 이미지의 감성으로 연출되어지기도 한다.

It can be a medium of a pastoral landscape with only aesthetic image containing message of ‘無爲自然’–life seeking for a inartificial way accordance with the order of nature and the existence of the physical shape. I attempt to shape the various form of an individual image in a liberal way through more variety range of experiences and pieces by meditational memories, which are transferred to a forgotten landscape or narration from different time and space.
또한 오브제가 주는 무위자연(無爲自然)의 미적이미지와 실질적 형태의 존재만으로 서정적인 풍경의 매개체가 되며 연작의 감상 과정을 통하여 잊혀져있던 풍경과 다른 시공간의 이야기로 전의되는, 보다 다양한 경험과 기억의 사유적 잔상을 통해 관객의 자유로운 작품의 이미지가 형성되게 하려 한다. △extracted from artist’s statement/박흥선 작가, 노트
