Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) chief Kim Dong-cheol is visiting major power facility construction sites to support the expansion of renewable energy integration and ensure a stable power supply for advanced industrial complexes.

KEPCO said Tuesday that Kim began his three-day tour on Monday, visiting key grid sites including the Sinjang Substation on Korea’s southern coast, LS Cable & System Ltd.’s East Coast submarine cable plant, and the Singapyeong converter station for the first phase of the East Coast-Seoul metropolitan area high-voltage direct current (HVDC) project.

KEPCO explained that Kim’s inspections aim to advance the new administration’s energy policies, including the construction of an “energy highway” pledged by President Lee Jae-myung and establishing the groundwork for RE100 implementation.

“Power grid construction is a strategic foundation and operational hub that enables the transition to eco-friendly renewable energy and enhances the competitiveness of national high-tech industries,” Kim said, pledging to strengthen KEPCO’s grid construction capabilities via innovation and institutional improvements.
