South Korean mobile carrier KT Corp. announced on Tuesday that it will collaborate with LG Electronics Inc. to research 6G technology as well as promoting its standardization.
6G is the next-generation technology following 5G mobile communication and is expected to be commercialized around 2030. The two companies plan to work together to develop next-generation transmission technologies such as full-duplex communication, as well as collaborate on global standardization and discover 6G application services.
They will also focus on full-duplex communication technology, which can potentially double frequency efficiency. The duo will design technologies and transmission/reception devices that operate within the candidate frequency bands for 6G and will conduct performance verification tests. The duo also aims to take the lead in setting global standards in the 6G market by advancing their efforts in the standardization field.
