Clobot to handle Boston Dynamics robot maintenance in S. Korea

Hyundai Autoever, the Hyundai Motor Group’s system integration affiliate, will continue outsourcing robot software solutions despite taking over the domestic distribution of Boston Dynamics robots, including the quadruped robot Spot. The decision reflects the company’s assessment that developing and supplying software in-house is not yet cost-effective given current demand.

According to industry sources Monday, Hyundai AutoEver plans to begin supplying Boston Dynamics robots to Hyundai Motor Group’s domestic business sites as early as next year, while Clobot — a service robot software company specializing in indoor autonomous navigation and multi-robot control systems — will continue providing maintenance and software integration services.

However, as a system integrator, Hyundai Autoever may consider developing its own solutions in collaboration with Boston Dynamics in the future. A Hyundai Autoever official said, “We are unable to disclose details regarding client operations.”
