South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Wednesday that it will become the first in the industry to integrate generative artificial intelligence (AI) search engine Perplexity into its 2025 lineup of TVs and monitors.

This signifies a major evolution of home displays into AI screens that not only recognize voice commands but also answer user questions and even suggest plans.

According to Samsung Electronics on Wednesday, this new feature will first be available on the 2025 Micro RGB, Neo QLED, QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro and The Frame TVs, as well as the M7, M8, and M9 monitors.

Users can access Perplexity directly by pressing the AI button on the remote control or by launching the Vision AI Companion from the Apps tab on screen.

Perplexity operates in a conversational format, unlike traditional search boxes.

For example, users can ask, “Plan a 4-day trip to Osaka,” or “Summarize Samsung Electronics’ third-quarter earnings,” and the AI provides responses based on reliable sources.

It can also suggest follow-up questions, allowing for an interactive, dialogue-based search experience.

Samsung plans to offer customers who purchase products equipped with Perplexity a free 12-month subscription to Perplexity Pro.

The company also plans to roll out the feature to its 2023 and 2024 TV and monitor models through an operating system (OS) update within the year.
