LS Cable & System Ltd. has announced a partnership with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners P/S (CIP), a Danish green energy investment and development company, to supply submarine cables for a floating offshore wind farm off the coast of Ulsan, South Korea.
The two companies signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) on Wednesday for the Haewoori Phase III offshore wind power project.
CIP is developing the Haewoori Offshore Wind Power project, located approximately 80 kilometers off the coast of Ulsan, with the aim of completing it by 2030.
The project encompasses three floating wind farms with a combined capacity of 1.5 gigawatts, all of which have received development permits.
The Haewoori Phase III project will be the first of these ventures, and LS Cable & System will play a key role in supplying the necessary submarine cable infrastructure.
Floating offshore wind technology involves mounting turbines on buoyant platforms rather than fixing them to the seabed.
This innovative approach allows for energy generation in deeper waters, expanding the potential for offshore wind power development.
