Tmap Mobility Co., a subsidiary of SK square Co., an investment arm of South Korea’s SK Group, announced on Thursday that its artificial intelligence (AI)-based location recommendations service released in September, has topped 5.07 million cumulative users.
The service, Where To Go, provides a differentiated experience by suggesting places that are further away alongside travel routes based on users’ driving data, on top of locations that are nearby
Tmap Mobility noted that users positively responded to newly introduced features, such as the Driving-Verified Review system, which allows users to review only places they have actually visited, and BizPlace, which enables business owners to directly manage their store information.
According to the company, user activity within the platform, such as viewing detailed location information, submitting reviews, and adding photos, has increased about fivefold compared to before.
It also noted that places managed by business owners through BizPlace see up to six times more visitors than locations not managed by owners.
“We are receiving positive feedback by offering a personalized recommendation experience that goes beyond simply listing popular restaurants and cafes, providing users with new experiences,” the company said. “We have also confirmed that systematic management of a location’s detailed page by business owners can lead to more visitors.”
Starting from the first week of November 2024, Tmap Mobility plans to enhance the app with a redesigned “My” tab, replacing the “All” tab to offer an even more personalized experience.
The My tab will allow users to upload profile images that reflect their personality and make it easier to write reviews of the places they visit.
It will also add a feature that lets users review recently visited locations directly from their visit records without needing to search for each location.
The company plans to further encourage user communication and feedback.
