South Korea has launched joint public-private partnership projects (PPPs) to dramatically improve factories using artificial intelligence (AI).
The country’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy selected 26 projects set for launch in 2024 as part of its AI Autonomous Manufacturing Anchor Program on Monday. The projects involve leading Korean manufacturing companies across 12 industries, including automotive (Hyundai Motor Group), shipbuilding (Samsung Heavy Industries Co., HD Hyundai Co.), secondary batteries (EcoPro Group), steel (POSCO Group), and refining and chemicals (GS Caltex Corp.).
With a total investment of 3.7 trillion won ($2.68 billion), the projects aim to integrate AI into the manufacturing industry to significantly enhance productivity.
